SHANNON - Connie Kay Gober left this world unexpectedly from her Shannon area home after suffering a sudden illness in the early morning hours of Feb. 27, 2024. She was 63. Born in Ohio on July 12, 1960 to the late Pirl Summers Barnette and Evelyn Justice, who survives, she grew up in the Great Lakes area of Ohio and attended the public schools there. She and her late husband, George “Mike” Gober, who died Feb. 4, 2022, and their only son, Isaac, returned to Lee County in 2017 and made their home in Shannon. Connie had a long career as a Registered Nurse in the health care profession in Ohio. A beloved member of the Tupelo Church of God, Connie was faithful to her Lord and Savior and loved attending Church as much as possible. She loved music and singing, was an encourager who often wrote inspirational messages and letters to friends and family and was a social butterfly and always the life of the party. Her overall joy and pride was taking care of her 18-year-old son, Isaac, who took his mother’s love of music and has become an excellent musician himself.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Tupelo Church of God (1813 Briar Ridge Rd, Tupelo, Ms. 38801) with her pastor, Rev. Judd Vowell, officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook athttps://www.facebook.com/tupelocog?mibextid=ZbWKwL. Private burial will follow in the Gober family plot at Gray’s Cemetery in Nettleton. Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2024, from 2 PM to 5 PM and again from Noon to service time on Monday, all at the Tupelo Church of God. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serve their friends.

Connie is survived by her son, Isaac Samuel Gober of Shannon; her mother, Evelyn Justice of Elyria, Ohio; her sisters, Melissa “Missy” Barnette, and Penny Barlow, both of Elyria, Ohio; and a brother, Darren “Duey” Barnette and wife, Jennifer of West Virginia; many nieces and nephews; and her Gober family from her marriage to Mike.
