Yep, you read that correctly, today I am reviewing Mrs Maisel toothpaste because my blog is really taking off…. In all fairness, it’s just a little fun and as Midge Maisel is my official new favourite fictional person, I don’t mind testing out something a little out of the ordinary. Now you may be wondering, why would Mrs Maisel even collaborate with Marvis at all; Marvis was started in 1958 in Florence, Italy so it came out in the same time as Mrs Maisel is set. Also, have you seen how beautiful Midge’s teeth are?

Marvis revolutionised the concept of toothpaste. Straight from Florence, Marvis is a superior dental brand beloved in Italy for generations. Marvis changed the story, transforming an everyday ritual such as brushing your teeth into something remarkable, unexpected and blissful. “Suddenly your morning routine transports you somewhere, leaving you with a long-lasting, pleasurable taste sensation” the company states. In this particular collaboration, Maisel fans are invited to go on tour with Midge (and her fresh mouth) with this limited edition Marvis set, made exclusively in partnership with the show. If you’d like to check out the product, go here.
The collab in question includes travel-friendly 40ml sizes of three fluorite Marvis toothpaste flavours: Classic Strong Mint – Unmistakable “Piperita” Mint for intense pleasure and endless freshness; Whitening Mint – The icy shiver produced by the “Cool” Mint leaves you with a lasting taste and unforgettable freshness; and Aquatic Mint – a “Soft, Cold” Mint taste with a pleasant sea freshness. The tooth paste comes packages in a small box, featuring the Marvis crest and logo, with a bright pink Maisel sleeve over the top.

So I have to be honest, I really don’t like mint or anything mint flavoured. It always makes me feel nauseous and my grandma was the same so it does feel weird testing out something I know I won’t enjoy to the fullest. In saying this, I will still try my best and seeing that I use mint toothpaste everyday anyway, it’s more something I tune out and deal with. To keep the review fair, I used each toothpaste for one week so I got used to the flavour and to see if I could see any effects of the whitening over that time.
I really like the packaging of the tubes themselves; they look less cluttered than regular Colgate toothpaste, the colour scheme is simple and stands out, and I also like how they look like metal tubes as opposed to plastic ones. I’m also a fan of the screw lid as opposed to the open cap that Colgate uses; I really have a problem when toothpaste dries around the lid and won’t close so with the Marvis tubes, that won’t happen. I found the consistency of the toothpaste to be very thick and it reminded me of a fondant.

When brushing, the foam that’s created wasn’t as thick as I’m used to which made it quite palatable and pleasant as I didn’t have to spit out multiple times per wash. After brushing, my teeth felt really nice and clean and with the Classic Strong Mint tube (the green one), I was left with a very cool mouth feel. After using the Whitening Mint (silver tube) for two weeks, I think there was a slight difference to my teeth in terms of whitening but nothing I would rave on about. It’s a bit like most whitening toothpastes in that they don’t give you pearly white teeth after a short time using the product. My favourite of the three was the Aquatic Mint (blue tube) as it had the softer mint flavouring out of the trio. I’m not sure what Marvis means by calling it aquatic mint but it was the one I reached for the most.
Final thoughts; if you take away the box sleeve, you wouldn’t know that this is a Mrs Maisel collaboration item. I kind of wish that instead of a box, the toothpaste came in perhaps a little travel pouch which would have tied into the “go on tour” idea of the campaign itself. The tubes themselves are just normal Marvis tubes with my Mrs Maisel imagery or colours; perhaps they could have been turned pink for this collaboration or even if the paste itself was turned pink it would have felt more special. If you’re a serious Mrs Maisel collector, then it’s a fun piece to have but to be honest, you can just buy the tubes of toothpaste normally and know you’re using a product from that era. I am glad that I tried the toothpaste as I’ve never had a chance to and I’m tempted to try their Jasmine flavour in the future. The toothpaste itself was great; I really liked the Aqua Mint and the Whitening tubes but found the strong Mint too strong so I’ll let my partner finish that for me.
So what do you think? Will you get buying yourself some Mrs Maisel toothpaste?
