Katee Sackhoff Wore a Fan-Made Helmet in The Mandalorian

Katee Sackhoff originated the role of Bo-Katan Kryze in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The actress reprised the role in Star Wars Rebels before debuting in live-action with The Mandalorian season 2.

On an episode of her BlahBlahBlah podcast, Sackhoff spoke about her experience on the series with fellow Star Wars alum Sam Witwer. During the conversation, Sackhoff revealed how she could not wear her character’s signature helmet because of a misconfiguration.

We’re like what are we going to do we need this shot and Dave literally goes somebody made a helmet, a fan, it’s up in my office,

Sackhoff made the above statement, explaining how the scene was filmed using a fan-made helmet after the original one could not fit her head because of the wig she wore. She added:

We literally used it in the shot.

Sackhoff revealed that the helmet was gifted to Dave Filoni’s wife by a fan and ended up fitting her. The actress added that the final look was achieved with the help of some CGI.

The scene Sackhoff referred to was the third episode of season 2, which marked her character’s live-action debut. As a result, the scene is one of the best in the series since Bo-Katan is a major fan favorite.

Katee Sackhoff Talked About the Process of Filming The Mandalorian

During the same interview, Sackhoff also spoke about her experience of working on a live-action series in the Star Wars franchise for the first time, despite being part of the universe for several years.

Sackhoff noted that the process of filming The Mandalorian was considerably slower than some of the other shows she had worked on. However, the actress admitted that the filming days went by really fast. She said:

It’s so fast but it’s so slow you know, there’s so many days to shoot an episode so many more days than any other show.

Sackhoff made the above statement, explaining how filming the live-action series was a much different experience compared to her previous experiences.

Furthermore, Sackhoff added that she enjoyed working with director Bryce Dallas Howard. The actress revealed that Howard prefers taking multiple takes while other directors only took two takes at most. As a result, Sackhoff had a pleasant experience exploring her character through multiple takes.
